RealTalk Groups was the brainchild of Pastor Darius Todd after the 2020 pandemic. We began to notice a trend of students and young adults who were increasingly distressed by this ever-changing world. After many sessions with our younger neighbors it was apparent that a solution was necessary. Small group discussions in an open non-judgemental atmosphere has proven to be a crucial part of that needed solution.
RealTalk Groups have helped many of our youth open up about their struggles, concerns and issues. Once open, our teams help guide each participant through exploration and discovery of tools and opportunities to successfully resolve trauma, heal concerns and avert possible detrimental outcomes.
The RealTalk Groups consist of community members, teens, young adults and para-professionals. We provide peer-support for those facing difficult life issues.
Each meeting will provide space where confidentiality is maintained and group members are encouraged to share openly about their struggles and successes.
We are all on the same team working towards small wins that can make a major impact!
Each interaction includes a grounding exercise, a real-life testimony based on a life experience and an opportunity to discuss the experience. The group is encouraged to share their own stories and challenges. Facilitators assist each member of the group to create an action plan based on the discussion.
After each discussion, a mentor will work with those who desire deeper connections to complete their action plan and obtain support.
